Your Vibe Attracts Your Tribe

Friends have always and will always play an important role in our lives. They represent so much more than you probably have ever thought about. And we’re going get to all of that but first, for this blog post, I want to give you an exercise. I want you to clear your mind, take a deep breath, and answer these questions. Not in your head answer them, actually get out a piece of paper and a pen, pencil, even a crayon and a paper towel if that’s all you can find and be very thoughtful when answering. Write as much or as little as you need to complete each question with true honesty.

  • Who are the friends you are spending the most time with?

  • How do you feel when you are around them? Elaborate.

  • What are they saying when you are around? What are YOU saying when you’re around them?

  • Are they speaking life to you? Write down some positive things they say to you.

  • Are they speaking ill toward you? What are some of the negative things or the things in jest they are saying?

  • What kinds of things are you saying to them?

  • How is their tone of voice? Kind?

  • Do you feel protected with them or exposed? Elaborate.

  • Are the people you are spending your time with supporting you? Are they genuinely interested in your life...all aspects? And visa versa.

And now, look inward. What are the things you are saying to yourself when you are alone after being with your crew?

Your vibe attracts your tribe. Your tribe’s vibe, attracts you. It is an unspoken, intangible law. Like the law of gravity. You can’t see it, but it is. What goes up, always comes down. What vibes your spirit is putting out is the deciding factor about who will come around, who you will click with, gel with, etc. Remember, we are all spiritual souls at our core. God gave us bodies but they are just the shell that surrounds the good stuff. Underneath our flesh and throughout our bodies lives our spirit and it speaks before we even open our mouths. For example…have you ever been at a party or any kind of function and it was light-hearted and fun until a certain someone walks in and immediately the joy was sucked out? They didn’t have to say a thing. Their spirit said it all. What is yours saying?

Y’all, if I could stand in front of you right now and take your cheeks in my hands I would look into your eyes and say with everything in me, be careful. You have this one time here. This ONE life to grow, to stretch, to experience joy and peace. You have this one time, so choose who you spend it with wisely. It is so important to be around people that give life, speak life, and encourage you. People that challenge you and don’t always sugar coat what they know you need to hear for you to become better. People that aren’t afraid of you becoming better. People that ask questions, that care about your heart. Does your tribe do this? Do you do this for your tribe?

The people we spend the most time with represent so much of how we feel about ourselves. Is it all making sense now? It is our responsibility to decide how we want to proceed. Who do you want to be? How do you want to feel? And start being really honest with yourself about changes that may need to be made to start moving in that direction.

The good news is, we don’t have to fire people. We just need to start living from our spirits and making the shifts in our thinking and then God will take care of the rest. He will edit our tribe for us in the most graceful ways. Just watch. It seems like it’s magic but it’s Him.

Over the next couple of weeks, journal. Journal the reality that you are experiencing as this has been brought to your attention. Then spend some time alone just breathing and getting in touch with your soul, your spirit, your true self. Start thanking God for the grace He’s showing you while you are moving into a new season. And start imagining and visualizing how you WANT to feel when you’re with your new tribe. How you want your conversations to go and how you want to contribute to THEIR good.

Keep in touch and let me know how it goes. I need to hear all the things!
